Hennell writes to Porter, informing him of the Bushire Assistant Surgeon James McAlister's grievances again him (f 15). Hennell quotes McAlister at length. The circumstances of the grievances relate to the drunken conduct at the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. of one of Porter's men, and McAlister's request to Porter that the man in question be removed to prevent any chance of injuries occurring. McAlister's complaint lies in the 'most unqualified manner' in which Porter responded to his request.
