The letter is acknowledging the commands of the Bombay Government dated 28 December 1810, which forwarded an extract of a letter from the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company; remarks William Bruce has made surrounding the company's woollen trade with Persia, and the Gulf region have caused offence. In the letter William Bruce insists that it was not his intention to cause his employers umbrage, and he outlines his history of service with the East India Company, which he hopes will mitigate any decision the court makes in his favour.
