The letter is informing the Bombay Government that William Bruce has received a report from the Pattamai Barbara [ Barbara Patamai ] that it was pursued for a considerable time by pirates upon entering the Gulf and that its commander sighted a fleet of fifteen sail off the island of Carrack [Khārk, Jazīreh-ye].
