The letter is responding to a communication dated 2 January 1812, which requested carmenia wool and raw silk for the 'homeward investment'. It also requested information of the cost of 'drugs and other goods in the Gulf of Persia'. In response, the letter informs the Bombay Government that it is not the season for procuring carmenia wool, and that it will not be possible to acquire it for some months; it also requests details on the quantities required.
