The letter is explaining to the recipient that the Lieutenant does not believe that he has the authority to authorise the recipient drawing on the funds of the Bushire Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. . However, it explains that it will be permitted in this instance, but asks that any bills drawn on the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. be accompanied by an 'official intimation'.
Also discussed is when the next ship is expected to arrive at Bushire; it explains that the Lieutenant does not have any information on when the next vessel from Bombay is due, but that one or two from Bussora [Basra] are expected.
