India will embark on board the steamer Clmsan, bound
for Kurracbee and Bombay, on Wednesday morning,
the 17tb instant. i c- t
On the departure of Lieutenant-General bir
Outram, the supreme authority, political and military,
will devolve upon Brigadier-General Jacob, C.K, to
whom all reports and communications are to be made
accordingly.
The Lieutenant-Geneial begs that Brigadier-General
Jacob will accept his most cordial thanks for the very
able assistance he has afforded him at all times since
joining the Persian expeditionary force, and especially
while exercising the important command oi the troops
at Bushire, where his vigilance and admirable arrange
ments, and the bold front maintained by the small force
under his command, mainly contributed (the Lieutenant-
General is convinced) to deter the Persian army, so far
superior in numerical strength, from venturing upon an
