rocky path into a valley about 300' deep..
Crosses the stream, presenting no diffi
culties.
Ascent out of the valley similar to the
descent into it.
Camp here in order to graze and rest
the baggage animals; ground swampy.

Recommence the march, road fairly
level and good; several small streams
crossed, and much swampy ground passed
pasturage good.
