the understanding that they would be submitted to the Govern
ment of India in the Foreign Department, and the sanction to
the necessary expenditure obtained; but they have been return
ed to me with a request that I will obtain administrative
sanction from the Government of India to the proposed expendi
ture of X 5343/-.
3. I therefore trust that the Government of India will be
pleased to accord their sanction to the proposed expenditure
and to communicate the same to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. in
order to enable that Government to include^ the work in the
schedule of Demands for Imperial Civil Works for the ensuing
year, which is liics; due to reach the Government of India in the
Public Works Department by loth November next.
