any of the conditions of this Agreement be delayed, the period
of such delay together with such period as may be reasonably
» necessary for the restoration of any damage done during such delay
shall be added to the periods fixed by this Agreement. The
necessary restoration of such damage will be carried out by the
Company as expeditiously as possible.
Article 16.
If any dispute should arise between the Shaikh and the
Company as to the interpretation of this Agreement or as to any
matter arising out of it or with reference to the obligations of
either party under it, such dispute shall^ failing any agreement
to settle it^any other way, be referred to two arbitrators, one
to be nominated by the Shaikh and one by the Company. Each
party shall nominate its arbitrator within ^0 days of receiving
a request from the other party to do so. The two arbitrators
shall thereafter choose a third arbitrator. But should they, or
any other two arbitrators appointed instead of them by the two
parties, fail to agree on the third arbitrator within 60 days
of the request to arbitrate, then both parties agree to accept
a third arbitrator nominated by the
Political Resident

The award shall be made in accordance with the general
principles of law recognised by civilised nations.
The decision of a majority of the arbitrators shall be
final. The place of arbitration shall be Qatr unless the
majority of the arbitrators think otherwise.
In giving a decision the arbitrators shall specify an
adequate period of delay during which the party against whom the
decision is given shall conform to the decision and that party
shall be in default only if that party has failed to conform to
the decision prior to the expiry of that period and not otherwise.
