Content: The letter is a covering letter, enclosing an extract of paragraph 3 from despatch no.32 of 1856 (folio 97) from the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. , dated 11 June 1856. The extract is related to the theft of cargo from a shipwrecked vessel at Sharjah, and states that acts of piracy against vessels belonging to British subjects will be dealt with by demands for full reparations from the rulers deemed to be responsible.
