I had. already informed you that my agreement with this company
was dependent on the approval of His. Majesty 's Government, and as
His Majesty's Government do not &2£X approve of my granting, a

advice that I should conclude an agreement with the d^ircy ^xplora*
tion Company, I have already told you that that on the Vth instant
(^nd June 1923) I wrote to my friend bir iirnold Wilson informing
him that the draft agreement which he had submitted, was not
acceptable either to me or to my people, and it is impossible to
conclude an agreement, on those lines.
