Court regarding Fees, and a despatch which I have addressed
to His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State on the subjett.
You will see that in the last para of my letter No.2120
dated 1st November 19151 I have put forward tae suggestion
tiiat tae Inoian Court t ees Act might be introduced throughout
tae Gull . ;/lien I did so I was uiiinklng tliat it was very con
venient at Muscat under the Old Order, but I stupidly did not
notice that tae Act had been included In those put in force
under the New iiuscat Order. If I had, this would have strength
ened my reasons for suggesting it in Bahrain where there is
a large Indian Community and almost as much trade etc. with
India as there is at Muscat.
Annotated copies of the Indian Court Fees Act are sold, which
make it easy for officers to decide what fees to charge,
whereas owing to officers non-acquaintance with the usual
Court Fee Scale prescribed under Orders-in-Council fees are
very often not charged at all.
