Letter regarding his departure from Nusseerabad [Nasīrābād] and his safe arrival in Gulan? and requesting that Pelly inform Kitty [Catherine Frances Hojel, his sister-in-law] that he will write to her the following day.

The letter also discusses a conversation he had with the Governor of Bombay (Sir Bartle Frere) regarding Pelly's future; Pelly's work in putting the situation in Muscat to rights and whether he has had much time for natural history and science work or been able to collect shells for him.
