Content

Letter regarding Pelly's vindication of his recent proceedings following the censure of the Government of India and the Government's letter arriving in Simla along with the Governor of Bombay (Sir Henry Bartle Frere)'s support on him in the matter.

The letter goes on to discuss the financial crisis in Bombay and the likelihood of the commercial bank winding up and the value of shares in both it and the Bombay Bank.

The letter further discusses a letter which Pelly wrote to the Governor of Bombay on Bahrein [Bahrain] affairs and other letters on Muscat affairs; the news that Colonel Herbert Disbrowe has been recommended for leave and Colonel Frederick Goldsmid's discussions with the Governor regarding a telegraph line via Bunder Abbass [Bandar Abbas] and Kerman.
