The letter is enquiring as to whether a native boat may be hired to convey a packet to Bassidore [Bāsaʻīdū], so that it may be conveyed from there to Bombay. It explains that Charles Augustus Murray, the late British Envoy to Persia, had suggested that all disposable British vessels should be retained at Bushire for the purpose of protecting British subjects during the current crisis with Persia.
