The letter is a covering letter, enclosing a letter received by Malet from Major Atkins Hamerton, Her Majesty's Consul and the Honourable Company's Agent in the dominions of His Highness the Imam of Muscat, dated 10 June 1853. In his letter Hamerton describes the instructions he gave to Hiskael bin Jusoph [Khojeh Hiskael], the Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. at Muscat, prior to his departure to Zanzibar. Hamerton comments that the Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. 's presumption of his powers and manner of dealing with others and caused problems in Muscat.
