The letter reports the recent seizure at Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh] of thirty-six slaves, carried out by the ruler of the town at the instigation of the British Agent at Bandar-e Lengeh. Kemball informs Malet that the slaves have been dispatched on the Honourable Company's brig Euphrates to the Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. in Bombay, and that arrangements for disbursements (clothing, food, reinbursement to the chief of Bandar-e Lengeh] will follow. Enclosed with the letter is a translation of a letter (folios 319-29) from the British Agent at Bandar-e Lengeh to Kemball, dated 26 May 1853, giving his account of the retrieval of the thirty-six slaves.
