Content

The letter relates to the import of slaves from Sohar to Kishm [Qeshm] earlier in 1853. Kemball reports that he has received a response from the Imam of Muscat over his enquiry after the reports of slave trading between Sohar and Qeshm. Kemball reports that that authorities at Sohar and Qeshm before denied any knowledge of slave trading in their ports. Kemball reports that 'no other answers could have been expected from the parties in question'.
