The letter relates to the despatch to Bombay of the Honourable Company’s Brigantine Tigris for refitting. Anderson informs Kemball of the intended return of the Tigris back to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. once refitting has been completed. Enclosed with Anderson’s letter is letter no.286 of 1854 from Captain Sir Henry Leeke, Commodore and Commander in Chief of the Indian Navy, to The Honourable Mountstuart Elphinstone, President and Governor in Council in Bombay, dated 19 April 1854, in which it is confirmed that the Tigris will return to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. on 22 April 1854.
