The letter concerns the appointment of agents engaged to recover missing indigo from the plundered British vessel Centaur . Anderson's letter encloses a copy of letter no.3833 (folio 226) from George Edmonstone, Secretary to the Government of India, addressed to Anderson and dated 30 August 1854. This letter is itself a covering letter, on the reverse of which (folio 226v) is the copy of another enclosed letter, addressed to Edmonstone from W Fergusson, Secretary to the Insurance Government Committee, dated 26 August 1854. Fergusson's letter informs the Government that the firm Messrs Hector & Co. have been engaged to act as agents for the underwriters of the Centaur .
