About this record
- Content
The letter and its enclosures relate to the import of slaves into Mogoo [Bandar-e Moghūye] on the Persian coast. Kemball writes that the slaves have been surrendered to the British Agent at Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh], and transferred to the charge of Commodore Robinson at Bassidore.
Enclosed with Kemball’s letter is letter no.16 of 1854 (folio 350) from Kemball to William Taylour Thomson, His Majesty’s Chargé D’Affaires at the Court of Persia, Tehran, dated 12 January 1854. This letter is itself a covering letter, enclosing the translated extract of a letter (folio 351) from the British Agent at Bandar-e Lengeh, dated 18 November 1853. These letters state that the buggalah [vessel] which imported the slaves came from the Batinah coast, and that Shaikh Sultan ben Houssein [Sultan bin Ḥusayn] of Bandar-e Moghūye has been contacted regarding the release of the slaves.
