The letter relates to the capture in 1853 of two slavers by the Honourable Company’s schooner Constance . The letter is a covering letter, enclosing an extract of paragraph 5 of despatch no.1 of 1854 (folio 369) from the Honourable Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. , dated 1 March 1854.
