It notes that the Bussorah Resident has requested the presence of a ship to protect trade and the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. . Therefore, John Macleod has requested that a cruizer is dispatched to Bussorah whenever one can be spared.
