The letter concerns a batilla (a small sea going vessel) abandoned in Kharrack bay [Bandar-e Chārak], and captured by the British Squadron in the Gulf; the vessel is believed by the British to have been on a piratical expedition to the coast of Africa.
It includes instructions indicating that the Captain should make arrangements for the batilla to be returned to Sharga [Sharjah], so that Soultan bin Sugger [Sulṭān bin Saqr] can identify it, its owners, and therefore punish any offenders.
