The letter concerns the provision of accommodation and food at the Bushire Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in the absence of the Resident; the Resident himself regards this as an insult, as he understands that no public table should be provided in his absence. The Bombay Government is therefore being notified of the 'insult', so that it may be prevented in future.

There are two enclosures:

1 - Letter from Essai Johannes, Broker Often a local commercial agent in the Gulf who regularly performed duties of intelligence gathering and political representation. at Bushire to Ephraim Gerrish Stannus, dated 27 July 1824. It requests directions on how to respond in future to requests like that from Captain Greene.

2 - Letter from Captain H J Green to Messrs Essai Johannes, Broker Often a local commercial agent in the Gulf who regularly performed duties of intelligence gathering and political representation. at Bushire, and Arratoon Malcolm, Linquist at Bushire, dated 27 July 1824. The letter concerns the factory An East India Company trading post. stewards refusal to provide the Captain with breakfast.
