TIv/H/B^. 16th February 1935.
Dear Mr. Laitnwalte,
We were aavised in January 1933 oy the
Anglo-Persian Oil Company 7 in Abadan that they intended-
establishing a wireless station in the territory of
Qatar to communicate witn our Bahrein station, provided
they could obtain the necessary permission from the
Sheik of C^atar to erect such a station, the Sheik,
however, refused tnis request at that time.
On the 13th February 1935 we were advised by
our Karachi Station that the Oil Company had now
received authority to establish a wireless station in
Qatar and wished to open communication with our Bahrein
Station forthwith.
It is understood from a telephonic conversation
with your Department that the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. sees no
objection to the opening of wireless communication
between (^itar ana our station at Bahrein, and we have,
therefore, instructed Bahrein accordingly.
Yours faitnfully,
(3d.) L. HO WITT.
