this Agreement so that they may be known.
Condition Third* The Company shall make a thorough
investigation of the State of Qatr "by such methods as
may in its opinion "best enable it to ascertain the
existence of oil or its absence; and shall employ all means
customary and proper and carry out the operation by
appropriate scientific methods. It is also incumbent upon
it to make the necessary maps and. accurate records of wells
drilled and such other data whether geological or of the
drillings which are carried out by it. If I, Shaikh
Abdullah bin Qasim ath-Thani wish to inspect these maps or
records, or data aforesaid,it is obligatory on the Company
to produce them to me or to any one whom I may depute for
their inspection. Furthermore, it is obligatory on the
Company to supply to me a report, every year, on the
operations it has carried out according to this Agreement.
Condition Forth. In view of these rights which I have
granted to the Company, the Company shall pay me:-
Firstly on the signature of this Agreement
Secondly on each of the first four
anniversaries of the date of signature
But if the Company discovered the substances mentioned in
Condition First and commenced exporting them from Qatr the
Company shall pay me fixed royalties instead of the sums
mentioned in Clauses Second and Third and the said royalties
shall be at the rates mentioned below and shall be paid to us
by the Company on the above-mentioned substances which it has
exported or sold at Qatr during the year ended 3 months prior
to each anniversary of the date of signature:
