Undersigned, Her Britannic Majesty's Minister Resident
and His Siamese Majesty's Minister for Foreign Affairs
duly authorized to that effect, have agreed as follows:—
"I.
»' The registration according to Article V of the
Treaty of April 18,1855 * of British subjects residing in
Siara, shall comprise the following categories :
'• (1.) All British natural born or naturalized subjects,
other than those of Asiatic descent.
u (2.) All children and grandchildren born in Siam of
persons entitled to be registered under the first category,
who are entitled to the status of British subjects in
contemplation of English law.
" Neither great-grandchildren nor illegitimate children
born in Siam of persons mentioned in the nrst category
are entitled to be registered.
(3.) All persons of Asiatic descent, born within the
Queen's dominions, or naturalized within the United
Kingdom, or born within the territory of any Prince or
State in India under the suzerainty of, or in alliance
with, the Queen.
"Except natives of Upper Burmah or the British
Shan States who became domiciled in Siam before
January 1st, 1886.
" (4 ) All children born in Siam of persons entitled to
be registered under the third category.
" ISlo grandchildren born in Siam of persons mentioned
in the third category are entitled to be registered for
protection in Siam.
" (5.) The wives and widows of any persons who are
entitled to be registered under the foregoing categories.
"11.
" The lists of such registration shall be open to the
inspection of a properly authorized Representative of
the Siamese Government on proper notice being given.

"If any question arises as to the right of any person
to hold a British certificate of registration or as to the
validity of the certificate itself, a joint inquiry shall be
held by the British and Siamese authorities and decided
according to the conditions laid down in this Agree
ment, upon evidence to be adduced by the holder of
the certificate, in the usual way.
"IV.
"Should any action, civil or criminal, be pending
while such inquiry is going on, it shall be determined
conjointly in what Court the case shall be heard.
