The letter is a cover for a supply of stationery, Company accounts (not present), and an enclosed letter from Thomas Hodges, Company Governor at Bombay, to Carim Caun [Karim Khan Zand], the ruler of Persia.

A copy of the letter from Thomas Hodges to Karim Khan is included with this item. The letter discusses the situation regarding hostilities with the Chaub [Ka‘b] tribe around Basra and the Company's desire that the Khan bring them under his control. The Khan is informed that George Skipp, the assistant at Basra, is being sent to Shiraz for a second time for new talks on the East India Company's behalf.
