The letter discusses the danger of attack at Bushire. It accompanies several shipments and enclosures:
- a shipment of woollens, stationery, and wine;
- Benjamin Jervis' response to accusations by Bowyear of improper conduct while he was Resident at Bushire (not present);
- a copy of a sailing order addressed to Commodore Fountain Price, commander of the Defiance, dated 17 February 1767 (this is a mistake and should read 17 January 1767), instructing him to sail with the Sallamander to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ;
- a copy of a letter from Benjamin Jervis, dated 27 December 1766, discussing the purchase of raw silk from Ghilan [Gilan Province].
