About this record

Content

The letter responds to Jervis' detention of the Tartar for use in assisting the Caun [Karim Khan] against Meer Mahanna [Mīr Muhanna]. He argues that the matter should be referred to the President and Council at Bombay and that, according to reports in Basra, Mīr Muhanna has now made peace with Karim Khan and is assisting him against Shaik Soliman [Sheikh Sulaymān] of the Banu Ka‘b.

The letter is dated 24 April 1766, but given the context and the information contained within it is almost certainly a mistake and should read 24 April 1765.
