Letter reporting that Shaik Abdool Kareem, a private in the 1st Company Marine Battalion attached to the Bushire Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. Escort, had been placed in confinement and was being taken to Headquarters as a prisoner on board Elphinstone as the charges against him were of a criminal and serious nature.

The letter continues by giving an account of the situation and charges brought against Shaik Abdool Kareem [Shaikh ʻAbd al-Karīm] , which related to the theft of some Cammelins (cloaks) purchased at Bushire for use by British vessels calling there; and the later discovery of the theft of silver spoons and replicas of the locks used on the chests the items were stolen from.
