Letter informing Colonel Macdonald that a packet from him to the Government at Bombay had been lost in a Batille (boat) off Cape Rasulhad [Ra’s al Ḩadd], and that as the packet had arrived at Bushire on 5 October he estimated they had been written about the 27 or 28 August.
The letter concludes by informing the Colonel that he had already written to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. regarding the loss.
