Telegraphs and telephones, Mecca, and the Director General’s
reply ho;192 dated the 15th May 1934 about the exchange of
letters between Bahrain and Ma’udi /.rabia.
2. I notice in both letters a mention is made of
w tne Agent of nofuf at Bahrain’ 1 .
7 '* In the letter from the Director General of Posts,
Telegraphs and Telephones, Mecca, it is suggested that n the
agent of Hofuf at Bahrain can appoint a private erson for
the service* (i.e., delivering letters).
4. I venture to suggest that the Director General,
Postal Dervices, might be warned confidentially not to make
use of the term *Agent of Hofuf at Bahrain*. Jncer the
'Treaty of 1392 no agent of a foreign Government is permitted
to reside in Bahrain, but the firm of Messrs 1 Abdul •Aziz
.usaibi and brothers, who have be-.n entrusted with the carry
ing of mails between Bahrain and the mainland, have for many
years tried to insinuate themselves into the position of being
agents of Bin Sard’s Government ^as opposed to being private
purchasing agents of Bin Sa^ud).
a. X had already warned the Dub Post Master, when the
iirm of Messrs •Abdul *AzLz lusaibi and Brothers were appointed
as carriers, to refer to them only by the name of the firm
