Treatise on the use of sand-clocks (منكام, pl. مناكيم) by the Egyptian mathematician and astronomer Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Fatḥ ibn ‘Īsá ibn Aḥmad al-Ṣūfī al-Miṣrī (شمس الدين محمد بن أبي الفتح بن عيسى بن الصوفي المصري, fl. late 15th-early 16th century; see. f. 125v, lines 2-3). The text is divided into 5 short chapters (أبواب), an introduction (مقدمة) and a long conclusion (خاتمة).

The treatise contains six diagrams (ff. 122v and 123r) and one table (124v).

This text is followed (ff. 125v, line 4-127r) by a description of a sand-clock called the tarjihār (ترجهار) extracted from Kitāb minhaj al-ṭullāb fī ‘amal al-aṣṭurlāb (كتاب منهج الطلاب في عمل الأصطرلاب) by the Yemini Rasulid sultan al-Malik al-Ashraf ‘Umar ibn Yūsuf ibn ‘Umar ibn ‘Alī ibn Rasūl (الملك الأشرف عمر بن علي بن رسول; d. 1296).

الحمد لله رافع الدرجات لمن شد عزيمة قصده في تحرير العمل وواضع البركات

لمن سد ساعات عمره عن تكرير الخلل الذي فتح دقائق الفهوم الفكرية ...

Ends (f. 125v, lines 1-3):

وكان ذلك أضبط للوقت واحر زوادق لما قصدناه فوجب إذا على مريد التحقيق

مراعاة ما ذكرنا والله الموفق ...
