The file contains correspondence relating to the discussion over the need to gather and distribute intelligence on Saudi Arabia, including the establishment of an intelligence centre at Bahrain, due to the importance of developments there to the rulers of the neighbouring Gulf rulers and the granting of the oil concession at Hasa to the American Californian Group. The correspondence is between the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. at Bushire, Trenchard Fowle, and the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Bahrain, Gordon Loch.
