WITH reference to Sir G. Lowther’s despatch No. 337 of the 17th May last, I
have the honour to forward herewith a despatch from His Majesty’s vice-consul at
Hodeidah, reporting that an end has been put to the operations undertaken by the
Imperial troops against the Imam Yahya in the Yemen, and that an expedition is about
to proceed against Seyyid Mahomed Idrisee of Assyr.

SINCE the events leading to the relief of Sana’a early in April last, as reported in
my despatch No. 23 E, there have been no military operations in Yemen proper worth
