My Lord,
The Treaty of May 5th, 1894, extending the
Anglo^Germm Extradition Treaty of May 14th 1872,
applies, so far as this country is concerned, only to
the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and
to the Colonies and Foreign Possessions of Her
Britannic Majesty, and not to the British Protectorates
and Spheres of pnflnxmre. x This fact has given rise
to doubts on the part of the Imperial Government as
to which of the British territories, particularly in
Africa and Asia, come under the provisions of the new
Treaty.
I should be much obliged if Your Lordship
u>ould. furnish me with a list of the territories which
are excepted from its application.
