and its dependencies, and that he will protect all persons who may he going in
the direction of Aden for the purposes of trade, or returning therefrom
and that he will assist and protect any British party which may have occasion
to visit his territory.

In consideration of these undertakings and engagements, the British
Government agree to pay to the said Sultan Kasim bin Ahmed, the Audali,
and to his heirs and successors, a monthly sum of forty dollars, the half of
which is twenty dollars.

The above treaty shall have effect from this date. In witness thereof the
undersigned have affixed their signatures or seals at this the nineteenth day of
September in the year one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.
The English version of this treaty will be regarded as the authoritative
version.
