In continuation of my letter No. 802, dated 15th March 1914J 1 have the
honour to forward, for the information of the Government of India, a copy of the
communications mentioned in the attached list, in regard to the mission of the
Misbah-i-Divan.

Local Government.
40. The Misbah-i-Divan, who has been sent on a mission to Baluchistan
was on board the mail steamer which reached Bandar ’Abbas from Bushire on
the 6th March. He did not land but went straight through to Chahbar. His
Agent here had collected some 20 tufangchis but he told them to wait here for
the present until he sent them instructions from Chahbar : he also said he had
collected about 50 tufangchis at Bushire, but had not taken them with^ him.
The Bakhtiari Sowars whom he expected from Kerman had not arrived owing, it
seems, to some difficulty having arisen over the provision of funds for them.

The subjects are:

  • the movements of Baluchi raiders in the Province;
  • the operations of the Swedish gendarmerie against Baluchi;
  • the departure of the new Governor General from Tehran;
  • Misbah-i-Divan, created Governor of Baluchistan, on a mission to pacify Persian Baluchistan;
  • finances.

There are copies of letters in French, from Major G Glimstedt, Commanding the IV Regiment of the Gendarmerie Gouvernementale at Kerman.

The volume comprises part 2 of two. Each part includes a divider which gives the subject and part numbers, year the subject file was opened, subject heading, and list of correspondence references contained in that part by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.

The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order from the front to the rear of the file. The subject 348 (Kerman affairs) consists of two volumes IOR/L/PS/10/334-335, with part 1 in the first and part 2 in the second volume.
