I should be glad if you would tell Misbah-i-Diwan that I am obliged to him
for his communication from Ahwaz, but that I see no advantage in his stopping
here en route to Kerman.

From—His Britannic Majesty’s Consul, Bandar Abbas,
To—The Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. , Bushire.
I understand from Grey’s telegram repeated to me in your telegram No. 180,
dated February 6th, that Misbahd-Diwan is on his way to Chahbar. Should
this be the case, is it possible for him to be requested not to land at Bandar
Abbas or better still to go to Maskat in the fast mail ? It is very undesirable that
he should come here. His ardent supporters here include several influential
people, and an agitation will probably be caused in his favour by his presence
here. Reference is invited to my diary of December 17th, paragraph 216.
Telegram R., No. 52/189, dated 10th February 1934 .
From—-The First Assistant Resident, Bushire,
To—His Britannic Majesty’s Minister, Tehran.
Misbah has arrived Muhammerah and has stated his intention of proceeding to
Bandar Abdas and Chahbar. In this connection Consul, Bandar Abbas, wires
asking that Misbah may be requested not to land at Bandar Abbas where his ardent
supporters include several influential people and adds that an agitation will
probably be caused in his favour by his presence there. Misbah is due at
Bushire tomorrow and I am requesting him to land and will detain him here if
possible. In the meantime, in view of opinion expressed by the Consul, Bandar
Abbas, I would ask, if Your Excellency sees no objection, that Persian Govern
ment be moved to issue specific and urgent instructions to Misbah by the Indo-
European Telegraph line to proceed direct to Chahbar without landing at Bandar
Abbas.
Telegram R., No. 42, dated 12th February 1914.
From—His Britannic Majesty’s Minister, Tehran,
To—The First Assistant Resident, Bushire.
Your telegram No. $2/\8g. Minister for Foreign Affairs promises that
orders shall be issued to Misbah as requested.
