( ?) . Abu P'usa. My telegram dated Octo
ber 12tli continued. On the evening of
October 16th I arrived at Shargah and
found that Abdulla bin Hassan the
joint Concessionaire had come and had
handed to the Sheikh a letter from
lonckhaus Lingah containing advice
to him and
^bo withdraw notice, not to interfere

in the mine,and a claim to the owner
ship of the accumjflUlation of extracted
oxide now on the beach. He threatened
further that men would be sent for
the protection of their property now
on the Island. The Sheikh was also
threatened by Abdulla with retaliation
( B ),
on the part of the German^ 'The Sheikh
took alarm at this and was at the inss
last much inclined to hold back, but
eventually four dhows were sent by him
i
containing GO armed men and two addi
tional dhows for the purpose of con
veying workmen etc., to Lingah. At
noon on October the 20th I arrived at
the Island and landing in advance of
the armed men I explained to the re
presentative of the Concessionaire
that there was nothing for him to fear
from the troops provided the orders
of the Sheikh were obeyed by him.
After being warned by me against the
use of unnecessary violence the force
landed. The news of the notice had
been

Correspondence concerning the mining of red oxide on Abu Musa island owned by Shaikh Sagar bin Khaled of Sharjah.
