I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the
Secretary of State for India in Council, that-a letter
No.2fi616/10 dated the 20th ultimo has been received from
the Foreign Office stating that the Treasury have agreed
to defray from Imperial Funds a moiety of the cost invol
ved in taking over the buoys and the beacon at present
maintained by the British India Company in the Persian
Oulf, and suggesting that the further requisite steps
should be taken without delay.
A similar communication has, it is understood,
been forwarded to the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. .
My Lords assume that, as the buoys and beacon
will be maintamftitythe Government of India, the latter
