Within the fort there are three tanks, said to be sufficient for the supply
of a large garrison for a year and a half. The water comes from a spring
in one of the hills to the westward and is conveyed to the fort by a cover
ed aqueduct loan at). T ^ -m -
The fort was built by the ancestors of Mirza Ibrahim Khan, the present
Naib of Sunnlkhaneh and Chief of Furk and Darmian, etc. ^
A large store of corn is usually kept here, and the g^nanes can Md
from 2,400 to 2,600 kharwars (the kharwar here equals 320 16). Ihere
is storage in the fort for 30,000 men for one month, and there are plenty of
donkevs procurable for its transport where necessary. There is a garrison
of 30 sarbdzes or Persian infantry in the fort. The gardens ^rmsh a con
siderable quantity of walnuts, and some of the trees from 30,000 to 40,000.
The barberry (ziriskh) is cultivated in large quantities, and the fruit export
ed to the east.
There are about 30 carpet looms here, which turn out a carpet resem
bling Duruksh, but not so esteemed, as amline dyes are used.
On a range of hills near Furk there are said to be some copper mmes.-

The volume comprises that portion of Persia south and east of the Bandar Abbas-Kirman-Birjand to Gazik line, with the exception of Sistan, 'which is dealt with in the Military Report on Persian Sistan'. The entries provide details of latitude, longitude, and elevation for some places, and information on history, communications, agriculture, produce, population, health, water supply, topography, climate, military intelligence, coastal features, ethnography, trade, economy, administration and political matters.

The volume contains an index map, dated July 1909, on folio 323.
