I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 30 of the
9th of August,* enclosing a copy of the agreement between the Shaikh of Bahrein
and the Bahrein Petroleum Company relating to the grant to the Company of a pros
pecting licence under Article III of their Concession Agreement.
2. I shall be glad to learn whether any definite areas have been selected by the
Company under the terms of Article HI of their Concession, or whether the prospect
ing licence is intended to cover the whole territory. If any particular areas have
been selected an explanatory map would be useful for reference.

relating to the grant to the Bahrein Petroleum Cbmpany of a prospecting licence under
Article HI of their Concession Agreement.
2. No definite areas were covered by the prospecting licence granted to the
Bahrein Petroleum Company, which covers the whole territory covered by the con

ing licence for a further period of one year from December, 1932, will, however,
specify the areas which are selected. I shall try to obtain and forward a map showing
these areas.
