I am directed by the Secretary of State for India to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter dated the 4th May (No. P.C. 31) [No. 8], on the subject <'tSharjah
Oil Concession, and to express on behalf of His Majesty s Government their iormal
approval of the concession granted to the Company by the Sheikh of Sharja
on the 17th September 1937.

With reference to paragraph 4 of my letter No. C/929-10/12 dated the
23rd December 1937 [No. 3], 1 have been instructed by His Majesty's Government
to inform you that the arrangements set forth in that letter and your acceptance
of them conveyed in your letter No. 2 dated the 23rd Muharram 1357 (corresponding
to the 26th March 1938) [No. 4], have been communicated to Petroleum Concessions,.
Limited, and that the Company formally confirm their acceptance of these
arrangements.
2. 1 am now to express to you on behalf of His Majesty s i^overnment their
approval of the Agreement concluded by you on the 17th September 1937 with
Petroleum Concessions Limited [No. 1].
