view of the decision in Colonial Office letter to the India
Office 59 9 285/28 9 dated August 15th* 1928,, Chief Commissioner
has stated correctly, from negative point of view, the status
of Kamaran* we are not aware whether His Majesty's
Government have subsequently considered whether the island can
be regarded as British Protectorate, and our responsibility
is limited tc administration on irregular basis in which we
have only acquiesced for the benefit of pilgrims and on
the understanding that responsibility for Kamaran will
