crossed copies sent to Bushire and the Government of India
of an official reply sent hy the Foreign Office on our
advice to the Aborigines Protection Society regarding the
recent Bahrein pearl riots. This, a S you will see, is on
much the same lines as you have independently suggested
ana it is to he hoped that it will dispose of the matter.
Ii the Society, however, return to tne charge, or there are
further misleading articles in the German Press, we can
consider more active counter-measures. On general grounds
our policy hitherto has been to keep the Sheikhdoms so far
as possible out of the limelight, but obviously (while we
are not, I tnink, anxious to attract public attention
unduly to them) this will become increasingly difficult
