from the Political Officer, Trucial Coaet, Sharjah, to the
Holer of Sharjah, shaikh Sultan bln laqr*

In your letter No* 206 dated 26th Kamadhan 1360,
equivalent" to the 18th October 1941 you very kindly agreed
to the Improvement of the landing ground facilities in
Sharjah*
2* The Political ^gent, Bahrain, instructs me to intimate
to you that the Hoyal Air ^orce authorities have no* informed
him in detail of the improvements which they wish to carry
out* They are *-
(i) Extension of the existing aerodrome^
(ii) Construction of two camps totaling 66 reed huts
and some minor buildings to the east and north
of Sharjah fort, to accommodate Ttoyal Air ’orce
personnel if the necessity arises to station
aeroplanes therej
(iii) Sxtfmsicn of the Foyol .'ir Force bomb store
area already existing.
(iv) The stationing of a flight of Vincent aircraft
&nd the necessary personnel with them at Sharjah*
3* I am to request you, my friend, to give your formal
assent to the carrying out of these measures, and also to
provide such local guards as may be required for the protect
ion of stores, etc*, belonging to the Foyal Air Force*
4. In view of the needs of the present war it nay be
necessary to station in the future additional loyal Air
Force aircraft to those mentioned herein at Hharjah*
would therefore request your formal consent to the stationing
at Sharjah for the duration of the war only, of such air
craft and personnel attached to them as the High Pritish
Government may consider necessary.
