advisable to secure his previous assent to the
wording ot the translations before embodying them
in the compilation. Unless, therefore, you see any
objection, tiie matter might be cleared up by a vaf a-
reference to the Shaikh.
(c) As to the appendix, presumably it is not
intended to include the whole correspondence
enclosed in Sir P.Gox's despatch, Nol795, dated
the 25th July 1909, but only the agreement between
the Shaikh and the Anglo-Persian Oil Company
enclosed therein. If so, a copy of the original
Persian translation should be added.
It is for consideration whether the following
documents might not with advantage figure in the
compilation, viz.,
(1) The Shaikh's guarantee of the Nizames-Sultaneh
good faith in the matter of the latter's under
taking to give land in Arabistan for railway
purposes ( vide Sir P.Cox's despatch, Ho.2223,
dated the 15th September 1912), and
(2) The ten-years' option granted by the Shaikh
to the British Government for the inflation of a
specific piece of land on the banks of the Karun
(vide Bushire Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. letter, No.470, dated the
14th February 1914 ). Copies of these documents
are attached, for facility of reference. If you
see no objection to their inclusion in the compila
tion, I am to ask that copies of the original
Persian txxxxxx translations be added,
4, Similarly the concession granted by the Persian
Government to Mr.D'Arcy in 1901 for the exploitation of
minerals in Southern Persia might perhaps- also be suitatayj
included, A reference to this instrument was expressly
Inserted in the Shaikh's agreement with the Anglo-
